Tradition - Fusion

IrinaXara loves many forms of dance, from the ethnic to the experimental. She is known for bringing scenes of high energy, humor, desire and intrigue to the stage!

IrinaXara has been engaging audiences since childhood through dance, and began studying Middle Eastern-derived dance forms in 2005. Her influences are a collage from all over the map. While her proximity to the Middle Eastern community as a child and teen drew her to bellydance initially, her past in the punk and goth subcultures drew her to Orange County’s Sashi, teacher of Dark Tribal Fusion Bellydance. During this time she also began to expand her dance interests to Egyptian and Turkish Oriental styles of bellydance, American Tribal Style bellydance,  Romani dance and American Cabaret technique. She has studied with Angelika Nemeth, Princess Farhana and Helena Vlahos, among others. In 2010 she co-founded the American Tribal Style troupe Haven Bellydance Collective. In 2011, she was accepted into Aubre Hill’s Qabila Folkdance Company, a group specializing in folk dances of the Arab world. Her current emphasis is on studying and performing the dances of Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Iraqi, Iranian and al-Sham cultures, as well as American Cabaret stylizations.

IrinaXara cultivates variety, growth and change in her dance. She is proficient at both choreography and improvisation. IrinaXara loves collaboration and inspiration from artists of other genres: actors, burlesque performers, visual artists, poets and performance artists. Some of her other interests include teaching Yoga, providing writing and editing services to the community and giving professional intuitive readings and healings.

Since 2015 she has also been performing as Elle L. Fauntleroy, a cabaret persona.
